As naturally social creatures, humans rely on talking and communicating with others to sift through and process thoughts and emotions.
Sometimes we may find ourselves feeling as though we have nobody to talk to, or that we don’t feel comfortable talking about certain subjects and emotions. When we feel overwhelmed or stressed, it can often seem like too much to unload on a friend or acquaintance. That is where individual counselling can help. Counselling provides an opportunity to talk to a professional therapist who can respond to your concerns objectively, offering warmth and support in a safe, confidential space.
In my experience, people seek therapy for many different reasons and I have successfully worked with people experiencing some of the following issues/concerns:
- Relationship breakdown, marriage, separation and divorce
- Difficulties within school/work environment such as bullying/harrassment
- Domestic violence
- All kinds of abuse
- Anxiety and depression
- Low self esteem
- Long term illnesses
- Trauma and PTSD
- Fertility Issues
- Panic Attacks
- Health Anxiety
- Phobias
I have worked as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist for over 20 years in different organisational settings. I really am passionate about the benefits of therapy and individual therapy is tailored to your own specific needs which means it can be beneficial to clients of all ages. Your own individual needs will dictate your treatment plan, though this could change over the course of therapy.
Whether you are coping with grief or psychological trauma, anxiety or depression, career dissatisfaction or simply seeking to improve your general outlook, individual counselling can provide some form of healing. Along the way I will help you to identify unhealthy behavioural patterns you may not be aware of to facilitate change and personal growth.
Counselling Appointments
A typical counselling session lasts 60 minutes (longer for EMDR therapy). Your personal circumstances and needs will determine how many sessions are necessary.
